Green Building Committee

Mission Statement

Provide leadership in the promotion, education, and encouragement of sustainable and affordable green building principles and voluntary standards for the HBA of Metro Orlando membership and their end users.

Immediate Objectives

• Conduct separate periodic Green Building Committee events that demonstrate committee mission statement.
• Produce a “Calendar of Events” through the end of 2008.
• Work with HBA Communications staff to provide member updates.
• Visit other councils and committees within the local HBA to introduce membership to the Green Building Committee.

Meetings:      4th Monday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in the HBA board room

"Green" Parade of Homes

Green Building Subcommittees

Events and Sponsorship Subcommittee
Coordinates quarterly events including the Green Building Expo.  Creates budgets and finalizes program topics.  Determines sponsorship levels and ticket sales for each event.  Works with HBA Staff to select the dates of the events. Recruits and confirms the speakers and/or panelists. Develops questions for the panelists. Greets the speaker and/or panelist at the events and troubleshoots any questions they might have. Recruits attendees for events.

Public Relations and Marketing Subcommittee
Attends new member orientations to represent the Green Building Committee. Develops an internal communications campaign. Creates content for the HBA weekly email, HBA News ad/articles and Green Building webpage. Coordinates the marketing campaign including email/fax blasts to members, and making phone calls. Introduces the guest speaker and makes announcements at events.

“Green” Parade of Homes Subcommitte
Reviews how to promote “Green” within the Parade of Homes 2008 event.
